Dr. Judith Christie McAllister — often affectionately known as “Dr. J” — is a leading voice in gospel praise & worship, a prophetic intercessor, a teacher, and a global ministry leader whose influence has shaped worship culture across generations. Born in Harlem, New York, she carries a heritage steeped in Caribbean faith traditions.

Music and worship have been central to Dr. J’s life from her earliest days. Her mother served as the church pianist, and from that earliest exposure, Judith developed her own gift as a pianist, vocalist, and songwriter. In 2001, she released her debut album Send Judah First under her label Judah Music Records followed by Raise the Praise (2003), In His Presence: Live! (2006) — which became a breakthrough on the Billboard Gospel charts — and Sound the Trumpet (2011). Her catalog includes beloved worship songs such as “Hallelujah You’re Worthy,” “High Praise,” “To Our God,” and others that are sung across churches worldwide.

Dr. J’s ministry is about more than music; it is deeply infused with prayer, intercession, and equipping others to worship in spirit and truth. She believes worship is a transformative space — a conduit to God’s presence, healing, and breakthrough.

Dr. J is also an accomplished author and teacher. Her writings weave together her musical wisdom, pastoral insight, leadership principles, and spiritual life. Among her works:

  • A Lifestyle of Worship – Her first book, laying a powerful foundation for believers and worship leaders on what it means to cultivate worship not just as a moment, but as a way of life.

  • M.O.M. & P.O.P. – Minister of Music & Pastor of the People (2023) – A groundbreaking exploration of the vital synergy and alignment necessary between a pastor (POP) and a minister of music (MOM) to create healthy, impactful worship ministry.

  • Harmony – A practical guide and resource for music ministry leaders to cultivate excellence, spiritual balance, and leadership in worship settings.

These works have become foundational texts for music ministers, pastors, and congregants, offering both inspiration and practical tools for living and leading worship with integrity and vision.

Affectionately titled “The Queen of Praise & Worship” and “First Lady of Worship,” Dr. J’s legacy is woven into the lives of countless worship leaders, pastors, and congregations.
She has ministered in churches, conferences, on global platforms, and in academic settings — including serving as an artist-in-residence for Berklee’s Gospel Performance Summer Program.

Today, Dr. Judith Christie McAllister continues to mentor, release fresh worship music, host prayer events, teach across the globe, and cultivate a generation that chooses praise as lifeblood. Her life is a testament to the power of worship, prayer, and a heart surrendered to God.

Dr. Judith Christie McAllister

From 2009 to 2021, she served as President & Minister of Music of the International Music Department (IMD) for the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) under the leadership of Presiding Bishop Emeritus Charles E. Blake Sr., overseeing the music ministries of a global Pentecostal denomination of millions. In her capacity with IMD and her leadership roles at West Angeles Church of God in Christ, she has pioneered training programs, prayer movements, conferences, and worship arts initiatives.

She has also long emphasized the importance of intercession and spiritual covering behind the worship. Her approach to ministry encourages worship leaders, musicians, and congregations to enter the throne room of God in prayer, to steward the spiritual atmosphere, and to view worship not as mere performance but as spiritual warfare and devotion.
